Thursday News and Commentaries

Highlights from last night, Obama spoke to the world and gave his two cents on efforts to deal with ISIS....and we are safer today....right.....the US Treasury meanwhile will deal with anyone who attempts to fund DAASH....how about dealing with anyone who funds any terrorist organization.....Iraqi's despise any intervention by the US in the selection of Defense Minister...saying they can do this on their own....meanwhile the Kurds are set to negotiate at a high level for their demands....oh and Obama says we are putting boots on the ground....hmmmm......the 2014 draft budget is quickly becoming a hot potato...who cares who has it...just get it approved.

Central Bank raises (10000) dinars for new trading
....
When I first read this I wasn't going to write about it, considering most of it to be old news by now....but they do talk about the CBI being ready back in January 2013 to lift the 000's.....but Maliki put a stop to it.....and they point out that the bank remains keen to implement the lifting of the 000's.....even today...they remain ready....it is coming Family....soon.

Parliament urges the government to send the draft federal budget

"Does it really matter what time it is".....or who has the budget....just man up to the table and pass the darned thing.....we know you want to do it....don't be afraid of it....it's just a bunch of numbers.....get it done, then crow about how you were there to see it happen.

Abadi, director of the Office for "Khandan": Council of Ministers will discuss in the next meeting of outstanding issues with the Kurdistan region
Next Tuesday's COM meeting will see a discussion regarding the issues with the Kurds....that should lead to a lively discussion and hopefully some fruitful ending that will make everyone happy.....seriously...I doubt we see much resolution but perhaps they will come away with a strong sense of direction and form some meaningful committees to get the right work accomplished.

The salaries of retirees today ... and the Ministry of Labor to invite them to review banks

Retirees to be give salaries for July and August through smart cards issued to them.....apparently those who don't have a card yet will get something in the mail....be watching in your bank account for a nice surprise....something is better than nothing.

Abadi's new government will face challenges
Challenges....of course there will be challenges, look who he is following....good grief Charlie Brown....stop with the critics of the man and give him some breathing room and time to get organized....does he even know where the bathrooms are yet....yes he does face many tough trials ahead but it looks and sounds like he will have plenty of support from a number of different directions...that is good....don't get your undies in a wad so quickly and just have some patience...join KTFAlways.com if you want to learn about patience.

Finance Committee: remarks on the budget side confound the street

Part of me wants so badly to say.....2014 budget....it's almost October...who cares....but from the way they continue to put emphasis on this budget even in the waning months of 2014....there must be something important there.....perhaps a number we are all interested in......regardless this interim committee seems to be working rather transparently to resolve issues and develop numbers that will make sense for all concerned.....meanwhile some of what they relate in various press conferences leads the average Joe on the street to think there is room for concern due to deficit issues....time will tell I suppose.

Abadi al-Maliki will present the recent decisions of the House of Representatives

Abadi has said that he will review all decisions and appointments made by Maliki in the last days of his role as PM, pointedly so at those made since the April 30 elections....meanwhile the newly formed COM is supposed to be guarantee of principle of non-executive unilateralism.....something that Maliki apparently never quite grasped.

Union of Forces: Naming and defense and interior ministers are subject to the decision of an international external biggest political blocs

Some of the political blocs have figured out that international forces are at work in naming the Defense and Interior Ministers....Abadi has said give him 7 days to announce the two candidates and rumor has it he has a couple of names in his head....were they whispered there by Kerry during his visit....who knows.

US to Make Peshmerga into Professional Army

The US is committing to helping grow the professionalism of the Peshmerga forces in the Kurdistan....through training and increasing their knowledge of military expertise.

Deputies: Parliament is determined to pull the hands of the government for independent bodies

This is a very large one paragraph article that I believe basically says that Parliament wants to keep government hands out of many independent bodies going forward....can't say that I blame them....great idea....when government gets involved then comes corruption.

Kurdistan reveals near the formation of a committee between Abadi and Barzani to resolve outstanding problems

From the sounds of things....the Kurds and Abadi are close to pulling together a committee to work on resolving Kurd differences with Baghdad once and for all...that would be some awesome progress and a real show of unity if they can pull this off....Abadi says he has learned of Maliki's mistakes and will improve things going forward.

Kurds: Abadi Payout salaries of employees

It is believed that Abadi will approve September salaries for the Kurd state employees in the coming days...this could and should be the first step towards building of trust between the two entities...with more to come from what Abadi has hinted about.

Abadi directed not to use the title of "Prime Minister" and limited to the job and name only

Oh good grief!!!!

Well there you have it.....first round of news from this morning.....some is interesting and promising....none seems to be overly bad for this day....I pray it stays that way.    Randy
