URGENT: Iraq announces oil discovery in Basra

Basra (IraqiNews.com) On Tuesday, the Iraqi Oil Ministry announced achieving an oil discovery; it is the first of its kind within the exploratory Patches in Basra, while explaining that the well will produce 2000 barrels of oil per day, and there are expectations of an increase of the quantity.

The ministry spokesman Assem Jihad said in an interview for IraqiNews.com” The Oil Ministry has achieved a new oil discovery in the area exploratory No. 9 in Basra,” noting that ” Kuwait Energy Company in conjunction with the Emirati Dragon company managed to achieve the first oil discovery in the well (1 h) at a depth of 2600 meters.”
Jihad said that “the volume of production in the well amounted to more than 2000 barrels per day,” pointing out that “the company is working to continue drilling to reach the second goal, it is expected to contain light oil.”
