Monday Morning News Summaries and a few Commentaries

Britain dragged deeper into Iraq conflict: 150 more special forces on way as minister says mission will take months

Ok, I posted on this earlier this morning.....but Special Forces....indicates a special boot on the ground to me....especially those that the Brits have already admitted they don't ever talk about their activities....

so just saying....might not hear too much about these troops and what they have been up to.....just watch for things to start disappearing....like ISIS strongholds....and maybe even ISIS troops in general.

Association of Muslim Scholars calls to turn the page of injustice in Iraq

The Association of Muslim Scholars are talking to Abadi in the form of an open letter to turn the page on injustices that were witnessed during the reign of Maliki.....’

I am of the opinion that Abadi fully understands the need for such changes and that we will see a number of pages being turned to the benefit of all Iraqi's.....across all provinces.

Prime block change: to speed up the formation of the government is not as important as solving the problems accumulated since the three previous governments

Not that my vote doesn't count here....but IMO....I think the new cabinet formed by Abadi is vitally important...if for nothing else to push Maliki and "his" cabinet completely out of the picture.....

only then will the new government start to make effective changes....

Maliki has shown that while he has agreed to "step down" he is still in power and is capable of at least slowing things down...if not fully dragging his feet as he has been so adept at doing for 8 years.....

don't get me wrong....the issues that exist today that resulted from prior governments needs to be addressed as well...but all in due time and in proper order.

Kurdistan confirms that the assignment of the article "140"

Remember this...."beauty is always in the eyes of the beholder".....and as long as the Kurds think they hold the upper hand.....their bluff is going to appear as a good thing.....

they of course want the disputed areas....they had them at one time, they have them again....

and in addition....they want the extra votes that go along with the population increase as well....calling for a new census.....if I were in their shoes I would be demanding the same thing.

Karam: Kurdistan Alliance will start negotiations from 2010

NO NO NO....you can't go back.....learn from the past....but don't go back.....learn from it....present new ideas today that reflect what you have learned and how you want things to be now that the government is changing....come on Kurds you are better than this.

Budget Committee's (et al): the deficit reached 61 trillion

The temporary budget committee has identified 61 trillion IQD as the deficit associated with the 2014 budget.....that is a far cry from 32 trillion....’

no wonder Abadi is looking for ways to "trim the fat" and he's starting in the right areas IMO.....with a reduction of ministers as well as pay cuts in Parliament.....

someone else could well take a long look at this process and maybe learn from it....but his name escapes me at the moment....OH well.....

meanwhile....they have looked at combining '14 and '15 and say it is not doable...and that I do agree with....keep them separate....figure out a way to get out of '14 and let '15 be the year of the new government doing things in a better way.

Iraqi Communist Party congratulates the President of the Republic confirms: the need to hold a national conference and launch dialogue and consultation

So the Iraqi Communist Party has been to visit President Massoum and offered their congratulations..

and....at the same time are encouraging a national conference that would open up talks that would help to open up mindsets across blocs and political parties that have been closed off in the past few years.....this is a good idea...

but should be run by President Massoum or Prime Minister Abadi IMO.....or even better yet a tri-level group of a Sunni, Kurd, and Shiite.

Britain refuses to send ground troops to Iraq to fight Daash

The Brits actually are much like the US in saying no troops on the ground....but some of those "special" boots are on the ground already.....

but where they have been, what they might have been doing....purely advisory I am sure....

anyone wanting some beach front property for cheap too.....they can say all they want....but they truly know and understand that the likes of DAASH and ISIS will never be dealt with by using diplomacy and political relations....IMO.

Abaiji stresses the need to rely on economic experts for the planning of the federal budget

If one is planning an economic budget for a country.....it seems only to stand to reason....that one would seek out economic experts to help plan and develop such a budget if it is intended to be a serious budget...

.maybe this hasn't been the case in the recent past....but going forward it could well be an effective change to things.....

maybe...just maybe...this has been some of the cause for such issues to exist over the budget from the start....letting non-economic people have their heavy handed ways with the budgets of the past.....

time for change....I am of the opinion that the 2014 budget could be the most significant change we initially see forthcoming from this new government...watch this closely and see if my words prove any validity at all.

Maliki's wrath on the Minister of the Kurds and prevent them from exercising their

Maliki is on his way out.....but in the meantime.....he still carries a heavy stick....and chooses to run interference towards the Kurds....

his political venue is not over....not just yet anyway.....watch the snake...watch the snake for it can still be deadly even in its death throes.

Analysts: Proposal salaries for the families of the phenomenon of "humanist" and inwardly political speculation and campaigning

I find it interesting that in the past we've never heard the term "preconditions" from the Iraqis....but now with a new government in town....that is all we seem to hear.....over and over again...every political bloc wants to get their wishes in ahead of their opponents.....

but let's get a government seated first....

what they each need to realize that along with the budget they all need to pull together to fight terrorism and provide aid to the displaced citizens...

hopefully getting them back into their homes as quickly as possible....get your priorities straight as a country.....then look to political needs and wants.

Kurdistan: The Ministry of Finance of the share of the Kurds

The Kurds see three sovereign ministerial roles within the new government and they feel they should have one of those....this makes sense to me....

keep thinking and pushing for unity of the government.....

at the same time there is noise that Abadi's government is going to push more power out to the provinces and the Kurds of course are in favor of this.

A page on Facebook called Abadi announces upcoming Cabinet

Just a simple word of caution on this article....if it truly is from FaceBook....treat it with a grain of sand at this point.....’

but it does seem to illustrate that Abadi may have 9 of his 15 ministers in place or somewhere near their assigned locations....

again it could originate from anywhere or anyone.....just because it has Abadi's name attached to it....wait and see what develops from this.

Maliki Warns International Community Not to Give Weapons to Kurds

Yes Maliki still is in office....though maybe his bark is less effective today than it was 2 weeks ago....he still can threaten others...

in this case....don't be giving arms to the Kurds....don't be flying into Kurdish airports with weapons destined for the Kurds....this goes against Maliki's ideas of sovereignty for Iraq.

To prevent a repeat of the experience of al-Maliki: National Alliance defines the mandate of the government's two sessions

This can definitely be put into the file drawer calling for things learned from the past......creating a mandate that will eliminate anyone attempting to seek more than two terms as Prime Minister...

and all the while holding the Prime Minister accountable for their actions on a regular basis.....

a take away from this action is that the National Alliance should be seen as implementing things that all Iraqis should identify as positive and proactive for going forward....good on their part.

Kuwaiti Crown Prince affirms his country's keenness to infallible to strengthen fraternal ties between the two countries

The crown prince of Kuwait has issued a telegram to President Massoum congratulating him on his recent election and is looking forward to strengthening ties between the two countries going forward....looking for Iraq to grow its security, stability, and prosperity.

House of Representatives will reconvene tomorrow

The Parliament will reconvene tomorrow.....possibly to continue discussions on the budget as well as issues with displaced citizens.....

there are several posts...this one and a couple of others that portray differing agenda items...will let you choose which one you want to believe.

Turkey: Shipping 6.5 million barrels of crude oil from Kurdistan to international markets

Uncle Tom....Uncle Tom Turkey...that is....is now "boasting" they have shipped 6.5 million barrels of crude oil for the Kurds since the first of May.....they were laying low to this event in the past....

but now while Maliki's time and power wanes....they appear to be spreading their feathers a bit and gobbling almost as loud as "Z" does in the meadow.....they want credit for playing an integral role for the Kurds.

Iraqi Kurdistan crude exports going ahead as seventh tanker loaded at Turkey's Ceyhan port

More Turkey gobble.....a 7th tanker is being loaded at Ceyhan, Turkey....unless I missed it...no mention of what the capacity of this tanker is at this point....or where it might be headed once fully loaded.

US official: we must not rule out sending troops to Iraq to fight battles directly

Mike Rogers head of the House Intelligence Committee speaks some sense.....not ruling out the possibility of needing to send in some troops to "kick some butt".....

so these terrorist organizations understand the US will do what it takes to stand against their efforts....yes yes yes.....

now someone just needs to get a certain individual off the dance floor or the golf course long enough to be convinced this MAY be necessary to make the terrorists fully understand they should be very careful which tree they choose to pee upon......
"Don't Tread on Me"......it matters not that it is DAASH or ISIS or al Qaeda....or any other radical terrorist organization...the message should be the same.

OK, Family....no this isn't all the news summaries for today.....just the end of my battery at this point....

need to go and find a place to recharge...will be back with more later.  **  Randy
