SHIMQUA5:
I have a friend I have worked with in high tech for many years, he lives here in the states and has many relatives in the Baghdad and Tikrit area of Iraq.  I have the following update from his family.

Take for what it's worth but please be respectful, his family are not military, not government...just hard working people who have hopes for peace and prosperity in their country.  I will also note that his family are anti-M, and look forward to an established government and a PM who can get the job done.  They definitely look forward to better days ahead.

Update from 7/2/14:  Another quick summary
from my Iraqi friend, I got conflicting stories today. After I left a message with him yesterday, I asked that he provide as much as he could on the Qi cards from his family in Iraq and/or anything on the RI.

He said one member of his family....
a cousin in the Baghdad area, got $3.71 rate loaded to his card, and it was active TODAY. Another family member got $4.00+ (exact amount unknown, in the area of Tikrit), and that it would be loaded tomorrow.
The one good thing about this, in my opinion, is that DC said on the call that depending on the region they are in, will depend on what is paid out (unless I misunderstood this, my apologies). There is no celebrations in the streets (again, they are more rural and may not be directly seeing anything unless it is on the news), although his family and others they know of are extremely happy with the new card rates, substantial to some…while it brings to a more ‘level’ playing field in just providing for families and having their day-to-day needs met.

As he explained it to me, this is used like a debit or credit type of card, easily used in their purchases.  It will bring an equality to those who are in a lower to middle class.  He said by no means are people going to be wealthy over this, but they will be happy and will have needs met that they have struggled a very long time for.  DC has stated this before as well…once again, providing confirmation.

The only news on the govt is what they are told, however some have heard through various people that M is indeed outno matter what, and that the new GOI is ready to act on their promises of prosperity.  He had no info on whether the parliament was seated or not, but they did hear of the postponement for the first session…some believe it, some don’t, due to getting M out of there.

He said that it seems the people are more excited about their new government, having peace, happiness and prosperity, than they are about having more money….makes one think about priorities. His family has stated that we (Americans, or the world in general) should be grateful to the people of Iraq for this blessing that is about to happen.
End of update.
